Live of William Blake…

William Blake was born in London on November 28 , 1757 his entire life was spent in London he was a poet, writer, engraver, and painter. Many of the work that he create is about holy and biblical event  because he claims to saw mystical  vision of angel and divine characters . After his father died in 1784, Blake set up a print shop with a partner next door to the family hosiery shop. In 1787 his beloved younger brother and pupil Robert died; thereafter William claimed that Robert communicated with him in visions and guided him. It was Robert, William said, who inspired him with the new method of illuminated etching that was to be the vehicle for his poems.  Later he became a political radical and was in sympathy with the American Revolution and with the French Revolution during its early years . In 1824 his health began to weaken, and he died singing on August 12, 1827.

The Tyger (1794)

Tyger! Tyger! burning bright

In the forests of the night,

What immortal hand or eye

Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies

Burnt the fire of thine eyes ?

On what wings dare he aspire ?

What the hand dare seize the fire ?

And what shoulder, and what art,

Could twist the sinew of thy heart?

And when thy heart began to beat,

What dread hand ? and what  dread feet ?

What the hammer? what the chain ?

In what furnace  was  thy brain ?

What the anvil ? what dread grasp

Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears ,

and watered heaven with their tears ,

Did he smile his work to see ?

Did he who made the Lamb make thee?

The lamb
William Blake (1757-1827)

Little Lamb, who make thee
Dost thou know who made thee,
Gave thee life, and bid thee feed
By the stream and o’er the mead;
Gave thee clothing of delight,
Softest clothing, wolly, bright;
Gave thee such a tender voice,
Making all the vales rejoice?
Little Lamb, who made thee?
Dost thou know who made thee?

Little Lamb, I’ll tell thee;
Little Lamb, I’ll tell thee:
He is called by thy name,
For He calls Himself a Lamb
He is meek, and He is mild,
He became a little child.
I a child, and thou a lamb,
We are called by His name.
Little Lamb, God bless thee!
Little Lamb, God bless thee!

‘The Tyger’ is a poem that talks about the nature like the poem ‘the lamb’ However, this poem talk about a different aspect of the creation.  This poem has to be analyzed with this other poem because the meaning of this two poem is that first you have to be innocent like a lamb in order to acquire experience like a tyger. Blake´s vision of innocence and experience is at the heart of this poem. This poem is a comparison of two perspectives that are connected by the creation of the universe.

Live of Lanston Hughes …

Lanston Hughes born  in february 1, of 1092 Missouri. James Langston Hughes was a member of an abolitionist family. He was the great-great-grandson of Charles Henry Langston, brother of John Mercer Langston, who was the first Black American to be elected to public office, in 1855. Hughes attended Central High School in Cleveland, Ohio, but began writing poetry in the eighth grade, and was selected as Class Poet. His father didn’t think he would be able to make a living at writing, and encouraged him to pursue a more practical career. His first published poem was also one of his most famous, “The Negro Speaks of Rivers”, and it appeared in Brownie’s Book. Later, his poems, short plays, essays and short stories appeared in the NAACP publication Crisis Magazine and in Opportunity Magazine and other publications. One of Hughes’ finest essays appeared in the Nation in 1926, entitled “The Negro Artist and the Racial Mountain”. It spoke of Black writers and poets, “who would surrender racial pride in the name of a false integration,” where a talented Black writer would prefer to be considered a poet, not a Black poet, which to Hughes meant he subconsciously wanted to write like a white poet. Hughes argued, “no great poet has ever been afraid of being himself.” He wrote in this essay, “We younger Negro artists now intend to express our individual dark-skinned selves without fear or shame. If white people are pleased we are glad. If they aren’t, it doesn’t matter. We know we are beautiful. And ugly too… If colored people are pleased we are glad. If they are not, their displeasure doesn’t matter either. We build our temples for tomorrow, as strong as we know how and we stand on the top of the mountain, free within ourselves.”

Prompt Numeber 1

Prompt Number 1 – “Greatest Man in the World” and “A&P”

Existentialism is a philosophy developed by Jean-Paul Sartre.  How does existentialist philosophy help us to understand the actions of Jack Smurch and Sammy?

Some times that the persons feel the desire of the freedom and the right of take their own dentition about their live. But every decision that they makes has their consequences. An insignificant decision sometime haves big ugly consequences. In these two stories the authors present to the reader these two faces of the coin. In one story the decision cost the lives of the men in other only cost the job of a young boy. The existentialism talk about the radical freedom that faces every human being, we must become responsible for every dentition that we make such freedom for some people to handle.  In the story “The Greatest mMen in the World” the character Jack Smurch use their freedom to take choice of travel around the world  wihout stomping a second-hand, single-motored Bresthaven Dragon-Fly III monoplane hi accept the risk of that mission. They take to a lot of bad dentition that in the future affect him like  knifed the principal of his high school,  stole the car of the young reporter that try to say the true , this chain of bad decisions  in the final cost they live.  In the second story     A & P is about a young boy that fights with their boss to protect a girds. Well this boy take they decision he want to be notice to the girl and want to give an impression they take a series of choice that end with their job. The existentialism is a theory that I accept and I now that is true because understand the existentialism help us to understand better the live and this two story because we can feel us inside the action of the story and understand the feeling of the character and how their decision influence the chain of event, Some time with don’t like their decision but we can understand them and in this form we can enjoin the story that we see or read.

Prompt Number 3

Prompt Number 3

The saying “The nail that sticks up gets hammered down” is a Japanese saying used to encourage conformity.  In its original language it is written in the following manner.  Deru kugi wa utareru”  (Everything2, 2011).

This can be see in  the character Jack Smutch of the story the greatest men in the word because he accomplish a unique mission, Flight around the word without stop  he could have the advantage of that and work  hard to be a better person and hero that the media of their time can write about him something awesome  in the future he prefers to no take the chance and to no change a continue his pact of bad conduct this path is more easy thing to do for him .

In the case of Miss Emily and Miss Brill the end of this two character could be different but in that time the women don’t have the same liberties and right that they have in  this days. This two women live in a harsh time for them because the women by themselves are useless to the society and this situation force one of the character Miss Emily to live in the shadow of her father obey all the order commanded by him. The form that the society educates the women for be a simple wife that maintain the house and take care the children nothing else this society don’t want women that think by themselves and try to  study or be someone in the society This  is the reason that this to women has the final that they got. But if we think his they have the opportunities of have a men the story maybe will be different in fact I think that this is false .   Because if their have husband they gone to follow their other and has to conform with that .This two women with husband and child they gone a be a simple family wife not  different of other family of the historic moment a women  that take care of the kid and maintain the house without aspiration and desire because this is what the society want.

Pick a Poem ‘White Lies” by Natasha Tretheway

The lies I could tell,

when I was growing up

light-bright, near-white,

high-yellow, red-boned

in a black place,

were just white lies.

I could easily tell the white folks

that we lived uptown,

not in that pink and green

shanty-fied shotgun section

along the tracks. I could act

like my homemade dresses

came straight out of the window

of Maison Blanche. I could even

keep quiet, quiet as I kept,

like the time a white girl said

(squeezing my hand), Now

we have three of us in the class.

But I paid for every time

Mama find out.

She laid her hands on me,

then washed on my mouth

with ivory soap. This

is to purified, she said,

and cleanse your lying tongue.

Believing her, I swallowed suds

Thinking they’d work

From the inside out.

The poem is the reflection of the live and experience of the author.  In  this poem we can Observe how the color interact with what the author want to says to the reader  the imagery of the vivid color give us the idea of the racism. The author is a black women that studies in a school that are a few person of color and every time that someone do anything bad she was the responsible.  I like this poem because present a thematic  that we thin in this days that is dead but the true is that in this modern time the racism still exist in more way that we imagine. We have to forgot about  the  stereotype that the society teach to us, and make a society of equal rights. We have to remember that we all human being and all of us are important.

Analyse the poem ” This Is Just to Say ” by William Carlos William

This Is Just to Say – William Carlos Williams

I have eaten
the plums

that were in
the icebox

and which
you were probably
for breakfast

Forgive me
they were delicious
so sweet
and so cold

This poem is like a joke. Because present the author telling to the own of the plum  that they eat  their  fruit. And no satisfy with that the now that probably that fruit if for  breakfast of the other person. This is like a little  story because the author narrate a action  that he did.The author in this poem use a lot of imagery appealing to our sense in this case sweet , cold, delicious this aspect are essential to write poetry.

Revising The Red Wheelbarrow – William Carlos Williams

The circumstances that live the author when write the poem is very important because define how the author are gone to write. Analyze the poem “The red wheelbarrow” by Williams Carlos Williams

The red Wheelbarrow

so much depends upon

a red wheel

glazed with rain

beside the white

We all think about the poetry like the love language but with lose the perspective that the poetry is a direct form of expression that can be use for anything    For example in this poem the author use a ordinary tool to create a piece of art in his poem. Making us feel the importance of the wheelbarrow. This poem don’t have a lot of verse but when you analyze the author force you to create you our poem about the wheelbarrow because you gone to search why the wheelbarrow a ordinary tool is so important to be the protagonist in a poem. The poetry give us the opportunity to create art with ordinary think that we never imagine, that is other idea that the author of this poem teach to us. With the most imaginable object with can create and unique piece of literature. Is depend of us to be creative and give live  to our simplest ideas . We can compare the red wheelbarrow with the live because is red symbolize the live and is a tool that men hard work to live .

Fairy Tales and alternative Fairy Tales: More than one side of the story

Fairy tale  a tradition form of short narrative folklore, originally transmitted orally, which feature supernatural character such as witches, giant, fairies , dragons with human personalities…  (Literature, Fiction x.j.kennedy Danagia ) this is one of the most antique  for of expression in the word .  The Fairy tale are create to teach something to us in one case they can  show us modal how to treat the other person or to be a good person.  I am sure that you have hear about “Rapunzel , “Cinderella , or the “Snow White and the Seven Dwarves”  maybe  you hear the version of  Walt Disney  maybe you thing that this version are the original .  The truth is than that type of version is a pink adaptation of the original one creates by the Jakob and Wilhelm Grimm create about 150 year ago.   Some of the Wald Disney  version in contrast with the brother Grimm version are empty and teach to the kids how to be empty and  only live with appearance.  When we see the modern version of this story we can see power of social roll over us .  They to coerce us with the idea of the happy live and how finder them and lose the literature aspect how make the original  interesting , and unique.   Some of the  new versions lost the purpose of the fairy tale that is to teach us the moral they only base in the Perfect couple the princes and the prince.  We can’t live happy ever after without the perfect princes, or the perfect prince  because we need them to fill our live . But no all of the new version lost the teach a example of this is the Babette Cole read Princess Smartypant  that present a good example of a good a meaningful fairy tale. The version of the brother grim have power and feeling and give joy when you read them for that reason this is one of  my favorite version of fairy tale like Rapunzel , and Snow white and the Seven Dwarves. .

I remember when I was a kid…  I see the modern movies of this fairy tales the version  of the Walt Disney .  Some time I fell bad because I thing that a never go to live a happy live because I  am not a enchanted prince with a golden  armor that fight with dragon a evil witches, in the real live you no have that kind of battle.  Them with the pass of the year I realize that the live consist in other kind of battles  and every day that you live is your own happy ever after and the morale that try to shows the fairy tale  are the guidance to defeat are own evil dragons and live happy and ever after.  I hope that the fairy tale don’t miss they meaning with the pass of the time and continue in the future…
